Wenjin Zhang
I am currently a senior student in the School of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), majoring in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. My interests span a wide range of fields, including statistics, applied mathematics, and machine learning. I am committed to pursuing research that balances rigorous mathematical proofs with practical applications, ensuring both theoretical depth and real-world impact.
Starting in my junior year, I have been guided by Professor Yuqi Gu at Columbia University on extending the Stepwise Goodness-of-Fit (StGoF) method from degree-corrected block models to locally independent sub-exponential mixtures. Additionally, I have been mentored by Professor Yuqi Gu and Professor Yixin Wang at the University of Michigan on causal representation learning with discrete latent variables. I have also been advised by Professor Weijing Tang at Carnegie Mellon University and Professor Yinqiu He at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on inference on community size.
